JACOB MICHAEL WARREN

JACOB MICHAEL WARREN hails from New York City, where he, an adult, still spends most of his time trying to be a ninja. Afflicted with a permanent case of shiny-thing-syndrome, Jake has built a rare and wonderfully diverse career that refuses to sit still.

Born in California and raised in Massachusetts, his childhood athletic and creative instincts ran on separate tracks–one playing soccer and climbing trees, and the other drawing cartoons and in band class. His theatrically-inclined mother not-so-gently nudged him into theater and dance, and he was smitten.

He skipped his high-school graduation and moved straight to NYC to create and perform in an experimental Off-Broadway production. Four years later he graduated from Marymount Manhattan College, and performed with numerous world-renowned performance companies. He finally landed at Pilobolus Dance Theater, where he had the pleasure of choreographing, teaching, and performing all around the world for almost a decade.

After leaving Pilobolus, Jake went on to direct, choreograph, and perform in a wide array of projects for stage, screen, and everything in between. He created and collaborated on immersive and experiential theater projects including Emursive’s singular spectacular Life & Trust, and the smash-hit Queen of the Night. He is also an accomplished actor and stunt performer, and has appeared in dozens of popular films and TV shows like the Academy-Award-nominated Marty Supreme, Dicks: The Musical (A24), Fallout (Amazon), and The Night Agent (Netflix).

Jake is also a dedicated and accomplished teaching artist. With intensity and compassion, he always strives to make everyone he teaches feel empowered and comfortable pushing themselves to their full potential. He has taught in over 30 countries, and to every imaginable age and demographic– from college conservatories to inner city townships across the globe.

During his tenure at Pilobolus, Jake met Casey, and  fell in love both creatively and romantically. The two eloped (creatively) and formed Leggybones Physical Theater, a new vessel for them to develop their unique brand of acrobatic partnering, and visual storytelling.
